Zermatt Information & Culture:
Zermatt is a strongly cultured resort in Switzerland. The sustainable nature of the resort is aimed toward pedestrians - perfect for a large event. There will be no cars and all venues are within walking distance of each other. There are bicycles, eTaxis, eBuses, and horse-drawn carriages throughout the town that may be used by visitors in order to get from venue to venue. These modes of transportation are perfect for transforming the mindset of the visitor and making them really feel like they are part of this sustainable, tightly knit, 6000 person community. Most of the population in Zermatt speaks German, English, and Portuguese and are majority of Roman Catholic believers. Zermatt is well known for it’s towering ten highest mountains in Europe, namely Matterhorn, which was considered “unclimbable” until 1865. Sky season in Zermatt runs form late November to late April, and has 29 mountains available for skiers. This town is focused on folklore and mountain aesthetics, such as the Folklore Festival and many other festivals and competitions high in the alps.
